“I love to put a colorful and whimsical spin on the everyday through my art. My prayer is that you can find a connection, inspiration or truth in my paintings that will make you smile.”
Stacy Spangler, Artist/Instructor
Northwest Arkansas Native, Stacy Spangler lives in Fayetteville with her husband, Shannon, and their three daughters. Stacy is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. After working for many years in Advertising and Public Relations, she had the opportunity after the birth of her first child to be a full time-stay at home mom. Although Stacy always loved the creative process, it was then she discovered her passion for painting.
A self-taught artist, Stacy is known for her use of bright color, heavy texture and collage elements in her art. She uses her hands, brushes and a palette knife to build up multiple layers of paint, papers and acrylic medium, resulting in a heavy distressed texture in her artwork. "I naturally bring a simplistic, light-hearted and whimsical spin on everyday objects, whether flowers, animals, bicycles or buildings. I'm always inspired by God's word, something beautiful I've seen in nature, or eye catching color combinations coming from God's amazing color palette. I love the experimentation process and feel my style is constantly evolving."
While living in Little Rock Stacy taught art to kids from her home studio for over 7 years. "I feel so blessed to be able to encourage and inspire others to create; especially kids because they have no fear in the creative process-I actually learned so much from them and they helped shape my whimsical style!" She currently teaches adult workshops around the state. Stacy is also an avid art journaling artist, and contributor to Art Journal Kickstarter.
