Do you need permission to create?
For many years I saw my art practice equivalent to sitting on the couch eating bonbons-a guilty pleasure. I loved it so much and felt shame for spending time painting when there were more "important and necessary" things to do. But then a shift happened. I discovered that the Bible says I'm created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and He is the ultimate Creator. In fact, He commands us to co-create with him so we display His image by adding beauty to a dark world.
Now I view my art time as worship. It's a worthy pursuit and a tool I've been gifted to connect with others, share His truth and quiet my spirit.
